Greetings all.

I have been asked by a client to review the processing for a system installed over a year ago by a regarded local firm.  They used QSC power and processing.  QSC amps I'm familiar with, but Q-Sys, not so much.

I'm in the process of downloading the software now.

Anyone have advice, observations or other info regarding the use of Q-Sys?

It's a extremely easy system once you spend a bit of time on it learning how it works.
I absolutely love mine.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
The tutorials on the QSC website were a tremendous help getting me started.

Thanks, guys.  Not sure what we'll be doing but the client isn't happy with a design over which they had no input (facility was under construction when they came to manage it).  The installers claim system limiting is speaker protection only (which I believe).  I need to show the client what's going on and come up with some options for them.  They'd like to re-use existing infrastructure if upgrades are adopted.

Tim, the speaker limiting inside of Qsys is not at all typical. You are required to put in RMS wattage, voice coil diameter, and if it's a cone or compression driver, maybe other perimeters too, it's been a little while.  Additionally, it appeared to me the peak limiting was done on a driver basis while RMS limiting is done on a speaker basis. I won't says that is the exact case, but sending one diver into hard limit will cause gain reduction for the others drivers in "the speaker."  I would recommend you verify RMS limiting voltage with a multimeter at the output of the amp.
