What is the best way to detect if two different outlets are on the same breaker? Any gadgets out there....I just bought something from Home Depot but wasn't sure if there was something out there which everyone uses

Yup.  I bought one of those "circuit sniffers" from a hardware store.  I used it once or twice and it worked...basically.  For some of the tests it was necessary for something to be drawing current from the outlet being "sniffed" to get a good result.

There's the simple and sure method of intentionally shorting the outlets and seeing if they throw the same breaker.

...or the safer version; turn the breaker off, and see which outlets go out ;)
