Ok then, back to the point, I concede that 115vac is musically superior to 240vac.

No way.  240v is obviously louder than 115v.  And our 50Hz is in tune, your 60Hz is too sharp!

I don't care. I have a universal power supply. ;-)

You win. My power supply unit are merely planetary, although I can probably use them most anywhere in our solar system.  Mark C.

Currently, 50Hz is between G (49Hz) and A♭ (51.91Hz) and 60Hz is between B♭ (58.27Hz) and B (61.74Hz).   If all of the power companies compromised and changed the frequency to 55Hz, all of our mains hum would be exactly A, three octaves below 440Hz.  It would be in tune with a lot of music and bass players could use it to tune to!

Cool.  It's not hum; it's a note.  Honest.

Nailed it.

Of course, A440 is very arbitrary.  Back in school, I was taught C256.  In history, some Austrian (I think) royalty wanted more lively music and changed the definition frequencies of the scale upward to get the more lively sound out of the same piece of music.

Of course, I keep my guitar tuned down a step to fit my (excuse of a) voice.
Save the frets from capos!

Look how many times newcomers encounter the "USE YOUR REAL NAME" instruction when signing up here, and yet we still get Newbie posts that need to be locked by our esteemed Moderators (who are a lot more polite than I would be).  If only people could...

Oooh!  SQUIRREL!!!

What get's me is "Longtime lurker, this is my first post" --- and --- wait for it -----
They still have to be reminded about the name thing.
What, a longtime lurker that never saw a "fix your name" post ??
