After a direct comparison of the octave smoothing seen at the bottom of a TEF amplitude plot and what I would measure in SMAART.
It might not be as simple as that, but am just curious.
Example:
Danley SH96HO
shows 16% octave smoothing, what setting in SMAART would be equivalent.

It is not exactly that simple.
The "quick" answer would be around 1/6th octave.
But you ALSO have to consider the data points used to get the "raw" data and THEN the smoothing is applied.
TEF and SMAART do not always use the same "methodology" to show the data.
But they can. If you are using the FPPO in Smaart-then you have the same number of points for each octave. I like that idea.
If you go to the FFT at a particular sample rate, then that response is closer to the display of TEF.
With TEF you choose a total number of data points over a particular freq range-and the higher octaves will have more data points.
The problem is that this sometimes does not give enough data down low and to much data up high. This can make the upper freq response appear to be more "jagged" and the low freq may not be accurate (if the resolution of the original capture was not low enough).
There are advantages and disadvantages to each system, and while the overall results are pretty close-there can be differences-depending on a number of variables.
So as usual-It depends.
