Are these real Nexo PS 15?
« on: December 09, 2013, 03:13:02 PM »

Hi folks,

I just bought these used Nexo PS15 from someone on the internet.

He told me one of the speakers have a blown driver, so i open it and check the 5 amp and the 10 amp fuse and both were fine.  Something that catch my eye from the first pics were the labels were the speakon connectors were different from the regular ps15, i also know there is 2 series of ps15's.  But this cabs could be the earlier versions or the install versions.

I took some pics and compare it with other over the internet and this are different, i haven't tested yet but i was courious about it.

I also have the 2 18" subs LS1000 which i know were the previous model.

The good news, i didn't paid full price and i hold some money because the doubts.

Let me know.

The LF looks to be a sourced from PHL. The HF is a B&C unit. Both  companies are/were NEXO suppliers.

Idk about the speakers but similar to the JBL thread a few weeks back there is someone on eBay selling "replacement" sticker kits for PS10, PS 15 and PS12? I never new there was a PS12....

They look like the drivers and crossovers used in the PS15.

The bass driver was a PHL 15 with a slotted cover over magnet vent.  The B&C compression driver looks exactly as I remember except mine had nylon screws on the cover plate.

The horn flare and gasket look like the original as does the little magnets that hold the front grill on the box.  If you remove drive from the horn flare, the throat of the drive is an odd size and the horn flare should extend down into the mouth of the driver. (Not sure about the series 2)

I've never seen a NEXO comp driver with metal screws... PS8,PS10 or PS15 or g2 8s and 10s
All nylon...maybe aftermarket

What does Yamaha/Nexo say (presuming you're in the USA)?

I don't think yamaha knows previous versions.   I compare them with a newer version, and they sound the same.
