Locking Rackmount iPad Holder
« on: October 31, 2013, 04:03:36 PM »

Does anyone know of a solution to securely mount an iPad 2 or 3 horizontally in a standard 19" rack.

I haven't been able to find anyone that makes a mount. My thought if I cannot find a premade product is to use something like this http://www.mounts.com/product?product=IPM-100 mounted to a blank rack panel.

Thanks
Steven

While technically 'custom', Middle Atlantic offers an iPad rackmount plate.

This is a completely different price point than the Premier mount you linked to, but way cooler too. 8)

They are motorized, and can be locked/unlocked via a keycode or a RFID fob.  It would take some work to fab a rack-mount for it, but it could be done.

This first plan didn't work out, end product was not up to par. I ended up having a bunch of these guys manufactured in full size iPad, iPad mini, and a couple for various AMX panels. Enjoy!

Although it is not locking, it involves removing the rack panel (typically installed with security screws) or disassembling it all together to get the iPad out, which should provide enough security.

That looks pretty sharp.  What keeps the ipad from falling out the front? It looks flush...

iPad face sits against the inside edge of the mount. The opening is about 1/8" smaller than the iPad screen all the way around, you still have access to the camera and home button so the way it sits now.
