Any loss of life is saddening but it's worse when it hits close to home:

I have known Jimmy since the early 80's.  He was a frequent customer of Theatre Technology.  Recently I encountered him at various NBC events in particularly the Christmas in Rockefeller Center Tree lighting.  He was on his way to it when the train crashed.  Today is our second setup day and his presence is missed. We will light the tree for him.

He was also the organizer of a monthly get together called Sound Designers Hookey Lunch.  6-12 of us would regularly meet at the River side Restaurant near where he lived.

in particular the Christmas in Rockefeller Center Tree lighting.

I'm pretty sure I met and worked alongside him when we did the tree lighting and Today show with Cee Lo in 2011 and 2012.  A tragic loss.
