Cummunity R.5-94z or 66z amp recommendation
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:19:40 PM »

I have an outdoor application that may only need 1 or 2 speakers to cover a parking lot (80-100,000 sf) with music and paging.  Budget limitations eliminate a 70v amp, so I need an standard amp.  Would like to stay with a QSC RMX2450, as that is what is being used for inside installs.  Too much for these?

Thanks.

The rule-of-thumb is to provide an amplifier with 30%-50% more output than the loudspeaker power handling. Purpose: headroom.

There is nothing wrong with even more power. Just set up a good (steep) HPF, dial the gain in and provide a limiter. These steps/functions should be provided regardless of amplifier size.

Thanks.  I believe Community recommends a HPF of 70hz.  Limiter also available.
