Thankfully stumbled on this thread ... I am planning to purchase an MGP32X.

I read the negative reviews on the MG series. Anybody here used both the MGP and MG series? Has Yamaha made a better board in the MGP?

My requirements are simple.

Analog board, the hybrid nature of mgp looks quite attractive.
Clean sound
On board effects
24 XLR inputs
Ideally two sweep midfrequency EQ> but I guess I have to compromise there.

I am worried with the comments on the MG series. About muddy sounds, poor PreAmps etc. Does the MGP series has the same poor reputation? Any other recommendations?

Thanks guys ...

Binoy.

How about an Allen & Heath ZED-428? The trade is that you get 6 aux sends and 4 band EQ instead of 4 aux+2 FX, 3 band EQ, and onboard FX.

Since I'm affiliated with Yamaha MI-division, I'll stay factual on this.

The MGP is completely different from the MG. The preamps are the same as in the n8 and n12 products (and thereby also the Steinberg MR816-interfaces) called "D-PRE". There are lots of opinions to be found on these on gearslutz.com and elsewhere. The EQs are also a different design.
