Heil Sound - Sunn mixer in Rock and Roll HOF
« on: August 28, 2013, 04:25:05 PM »

The Sunn Mixer pictured is the hand built prototype that ended up on the first part of the Who's Next tour.  Started in Boston 1971.  The output section is hand wired on Vector board.  The input boards were finished production pc cards. Note there was no 'graphic EQ' as the production models had.   This very mixer is in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame display.

Effects or Reverb. Amazing!

It wasn't about subtlety back then. It was about volume, riding the edge system stability (feedback), and tossing in a gross/obvious effect somewhere...and hoping the system worked the next evening.

The hopscotch silver/black channel graphics helped the acid-fogged techs.
