$1500-2000 - Which Followspot to buy???
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:01:40 PM »

Hello all,

Getting a lot of calls for followspots these days and thinking about adding a couple to my rental inventory. Would like to know your thoughts on a good quality, rugged followspot in the $1500-$2000 price range which can throw legitimately 125' or so and cut through LEDs and some movers. The Chauvet Followspot 1200 has caught my eye - has anyone had a chance to use them? I am interested in so give me your opinions.

Thanks
Hal

Phoebus i-marc 200 might barely make the distance/intensity desired but around $2800 new. Runs very quiet and cool. The i-marc 850 would do a great job but over $5000. The mechanics of a followspot are just as important as the intensity.

In that price range for you application I would look at a Lycian Clubspot, Midget, Midget 2 Quartz or Mini-Arc.

I'm so old, when I was doing FOH for Tommy Dorsey, to balance out the horn section I would slide their chairs downstage and upstage to mix!
