Subgroup-Matrix recording on behringer x32
« on: August 15, 2013, 04:05:11 PM »

I'm trying to record through a matrix mix on the x32 via 2 sub group bus channels. I can get everything sent to the sub groups and matrix channel to record perfectly how it's supposed to except an ambient mic I have plugged in directly to the console at FOH. The FOH is mono and i'm running the ambient mono since there's only one. Like I said, I can get everything else sent to the sub groups and matrix mix except the ambient mic. The ambient mic is unmuted and works fine. It's also unmuted through the sends on fader for the sub group like it's supposed to be. Still nothing.
If any of you know a solution, please help.

Hey Aaron,
Try calling the help line on your x32 manual.  I have called them at least 4 times and they are very willing to help out.  Sounds like a routing issue.

Dear Aaron,
Do you the have the fader down for the ambient mic, since you do not want it in your main mix? The problem with this is that a channels level to a Subgroup is dependant on its level in the Main LR mix. The solution is to select the ambient channel and remove it from the Main LR mix by pressing the dedicated STEREO BUS button in the MAIN BUS Section of your channel strip (just below your pan knob). You will know you have unassigned it when the knob is not lit up orange. With the ambient mic removed from the Main LR mix, you can raise its fader to get signal to the subgroup.

Best,
