My point is, if I am doing say a benefit concert, Backline drum kit, all different kinds of music. The ability to shape the low and hi end character of the kick without being able to change the drum, mic, placement, etc is useful, effective and time saving. YMMV.
PS: already using a D6, gate, comp and EQ as needed. Just nice to have a special tool for a special job. Thats why plugins are so popular.

No offense intended :) What ever gets the job done.

Well, I decided to go ahead and purchase a used unit, 101 or 107, which ever came first (not allot of those around), I got a 101 for $150 shipped on eBay and put it to work this weekend, all I can say is this:
I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious (Cypher, The Matrix).

I have a couple of the 107 units that I would sell. I tried them and agree the effect is great, but my systems are pretty quiet and these units are noisy when the system idles.

Oddly enough, I ended up purchasing a 107 to try. I've only played around with it a little bit but it has stayed in the rack as a potential insert on bass guitars when needed.

I didn't hear anything wrong with the idle noise, How are they noisy?
