http://www.kpho.com/story/22724064/wildfire-breaks-out-near-yarnell-azArizona lost 19 of its best wildfire fighters yesterday. Supposedly a wildfire broke out from a lightning strike starting a fire in a very rugged area northwest of Phoenix. Later a thunderstorm caused a quick change in the winds that caused the Granite Mountain Hotshots to lose their lives.
These are the best of the best. In the rare cases that states out east have wildfires, it's our hotshot crews that come in and put the fires out. They assist in all the western states throughout the year as the western states have lots of wildfires due to the climate getting much hotter and drier over the last 50 years. This is the deadliest wildfire in about 90 years.
The fire has already destroyed about 250 homes in less than a day and has no containment.
This organization helps the families of Arizona's fallen firefighters and police officers....
