White House Pressroom Lectern Mics
« on: April 30, 2013, 02:43:58 PM »

Does anybody know what mics are used at the lectern in the White House Press briefing Room.
I  can tell that they are NOT the  Shure SM-57  VIP package.
As a side note I knew the guy who spec'ed out the use SM-57 and designed the old Rose Garden Lecterns.  Don retired to Pinehurst after years in the communications office. I think he started with Eisenhower and was there through the beginning of Reagan.

Those look like the Shure MX412 mics I had seen on another WH podium. It was a wood carved podium and the mics were made to a custom short length.

That is in the East Room.  Different set up. These are the ones I am asking about

The mics in that pic do appear to have the plastic ring at the back of the windscreen that is characteristic of the Shure MX412.

Is it just me or does the gilded bird look like the AFLAC duck?   But thanks for the info.
Lester

Going to the Shure web site, I saw a MX-405.  It has a LED on indicator.  Probable a good thing to prevent unintended unintended gaffes.
