Setup instructions Dmx profile etc

Anyone have any of these fixtures to share the DMX profile WITH US? I think they are color key LED fixtures

can you use just a generic RGB or a RGBD or DRGB fixture? or in the basic form patch generic channels...

also the other thing is that if you are looking for a fixture profile it would be useful to know the console you need it for. also on a side note if you email the console maker they can make a profile for you...

if you can chart the fixture for me I can probably write you a profile for any of the bigger consoles (grandma 1/2, jands vista 2, hog 3/4, avo)....

to chart the fixture:
1. address fixture to 1
2. patch a bunch of dimmer channels into your console (10 will probably be more than enough)
3. bring the intensity channel 1 to full -> write down what it does
4. repeat step 3 with channel 2 through 10 until you've seen all the functions of the light (if you get more than 2-3 channels in a row that don't do anything after you've found the intensity channel and had it up you're done)

The issue is the setup of the fixtures , we address with A001 but the light does not dim, etc however we tested with other fixtures and the board is working fine. So not sure how to reset etc to default.

Did you patch in straight dimmer channels or did you try a fixture profile?

If you're using a fixture profile, it may be incorrect for the light and therefore have default channel values that would leave it on

Did you turn up all 10 channels?

One may be a master. One might be a blackout?

Most fixtures like this are configurable to operate with a range of control channels, meaning it may be possible to configure it as a 3ch fixture, a 5ch or 12ch or something like that. You may only have Red, Green, and Blue intensity control for the whole fixture in 3ch mode, but get access to built-in macros and maybe a master fader channel along with RGB control in 5ch mode, and in 12ch mode you get all that plus control of smaller groups of LEDs. Configuring the fixture for these channel modes is usually accessed via those 4 buttons on the back, repeatedly hit the mode button until you see "CH" on the display and hit enter, and then use the Up/Down buttons to select how many channels of control you want the fixture to have.

if it's running pre programmed macros in the fixture there's a couple of possibilities:

1. it wants to see a value of X (usually 127) on channel Y (control channel) to run in 'user control' mode
2. there's a mode setting on the fixture

you can test if it's 2 by unplugging the dmx...if it still does it's macros it's a fixture setting, if it stops doing whatever it's doing then it's a dmx setting and you'll need to figure out which channel is the control channel.

unfortunately without having the fixture in front of me there's not much I can give you in regards to finding a solution

the OP said channel, not channels, maybe this is a possible indication that he only patched one channel. my guess that this is a 4ch fixture, D-RGB..but some of those cans were a 7ch as well...from memory...

my suggestion, if you have an older style console, like a stage setter 8, leprecon624, or a smartfade2496, try using those. something that isn't built around profiles. and then bring up each channel from 1 onwards (assuming that A001 means the address).
