Hello everyone reading this...

I have a question concerning the DBX Zone Pro controller...

Is this unit capable of receiving IP commands for automation control via-it's ethernet port?

If not, is RS-232 the only other alternative? I am using a third-party automation/remote system for our theater's A/V distribution system throughout the building, and we are now looking into adding in the audio portion to the system... So, preferably, I would like to be able to just send commands to the Zone Pro via the network ad IP-commands, or we can do it via-a RS232 adaptor...

Thanks in advance for the info! If you know of a unit that is similar to the DBX Zone Pro that is in the same price range or better priced, I'm open to alternatives!

You can control the unit once it's configured using the ethernet port running the software so I figure you can send it live commands via the ethernet from any device that spits out the correct protocol.

I know there's downloadable protocol info on the dbx product page for the 1260

One other thing I noticed with your design requirement is 3 balanced inputs -there are only 2 and they are switchable between mic and line duty.

I would look at the Digitool or the Ashly 24.24m as good similar price-range products.

I did not see the Protocol software, since I'm on an OSX machine... Guess its time to boot up VM Ware...

Also, I thought DBX made a model with two balanced inputs, as well as six balanced ins...

Haven't installed a new one in a while.  It appears they have the "m" series now which has 6 phoenix-connectored balanced line/mic inputs for the 1260m and 4 for the 640m -all with fewer RCA inputs

There's also the dbx SC series which are larger matrix DSP's with 32 or 64 channels with an i/o expansion card format.

Thanks! The file turned out to be a Word .doc file... The windows logo threw me off on the site... Now to sift through its protocol of handling commands...

I like the full matrix style routers for full on control and DSP capabilities, but are a little over the top for our use here... All of our DSP needs are either taken care of at the console, in the A/V rack, or are pre-done on a CD or playback device (iPod)...

Mainly it is the remote switching aspect that will be utilized here, but level matching and minor audio settings will come into play too (HPF)...

Thanks Again for the help... These other products will be nice to keep in mind for a larger scale setup than our small theater here...

I'm still open for other products/ideas, so this is not dead yet...
