Hey everyone I got this pl 6.0 pfc and I torn it down and of course it's a power supply failure just like all the other 6.0s.  I want to re build it myself. I'm an electronic student and the local college I know I can fix it just need parts.

It's a blown power MOSFET it is a minor blow compared to some of the pictures I've seen where it completely melts the trace of

Before you get crazy consider the domino effect, availability of components, and your lack of experience. If you have $0 into the amp it may be a great learning tool for you. If not call QSC and ask them for a repair price. At the very least make sure you can obtain the components first, and of course, be very carefull around the high voltage.

Thank you like I said I'm in the electronics program and I have been working on powers supply's much more dangerous for electric cars etc and built a few tesla coils as well I now how to be safe around high voltages and voltages storing capacitors as some large caps can kill if the current follows across the heart and difibulates it.

You didn't say where you were located.

What are you actually asking? Have you tried QSC service?

There are several companies that sell electronic components (Mouser, Digikey, etc.). 

If you've determined that it is just a blown mosfet, replace that. 

If you have experience with high current power supplies, you surely realize repair is not always as simple as replacing the obviously damaged parts. An incomplete repair may just blow them up again.

I have tried qsc and they will not return my calls and I do use digikey mouser and jamco regularly

Has anyone here actually done this repair on this amp I guess is what I'm asking

If you do a "search" you will find several discussions.. Mark "bass pig" Weiss posted about repairing one or more.. IIRC another guy in OZ has repaired them.

I am surprised that QSC would shut down a customer unless perhaps they were apprehensive about your ability to realize a good outcome.

QSC charged me $600 to replace/repair a power supply in one if those.

I had taken it to an authorized repair guy and after some work he concluded that he did not have the appropriate jigs to hold thing for repair and sent it (with my permission) to QSC.

Given that these things still bring $1500 or so used, the money was well spent.

Did you have to pay ur authorized guy and qsc

I have never had to deal with them could it be because of that .

I've only dealt occasionallly with QSC, but their communication was very good. Maybe something you said set off their alarms.
