octa capture interface problems
« on: November 09, 2012, 07:40:12 AM »

Hey guys,

The image attached is a transfer function of two inputs of the octa capture, feed the same signal.  As you can see something isn't right with the time alignment between the two.

This has been baffling me for a few days.  Has anyone encountered this before?

Inputs 7 and 8, unlike those measured in the image, perform as expected.

Any ideas?

Thanks-

I haven't played with Smaart 7 much, but I vaguely remember being able to set up some processing on the inputs, e.g. say input 1 has a measurement mic profile installed and input 2 does not,...  but you aren't using a mic,...  Anyway, that's an area of the UI to look at.

Are the 2 inputs fed the exact same signal using a splitter cable, or do you just think they are the same signal but they are routed out different outputs of your console and maybe one has EQ applied,...?

Does the Octacapture have an internal DSP?  Do you have an EQ applied to one of the inputs?

These are a few quick thoughts.

Hard to guess what's wrong, please describe your setup in detail, include some screenshots of your Octacapture setup and Smaart settings.  Obviously with the coherence being so low in the HF, and the phase trace sloped the way it is, your delay time is not set correctly.  Too little info.
