And speaking of Beyonce, did she really really sing live?
I watched the press conference where she did sing live, the girl has appalling mike technique! There is no way she could produce the sanitised vocals that we heard when she is actually singing.
Yawn... when you look that good do you even have to sing in the studio...? If it was actually about singing there are always great voices saddled with less photogenic packages.

You just know that they are gonna blame a sound guy for the power failure :)  (even if it was a squint that did it)

Got a point there JR, but she looks plastic to me. Maybe its all false? Maybe she's actually a really good robot?

I actually am not a student of her personal look, just basing my comment on knowing how the business works and second hand observations. I didn't watch the game so was blissfully unaware of the power outage until later.

"Video killed the radio star (singing talent), kind of a flip-flop on how talking pictures killed the silent film starts (attractive actors with poor vocalization).

Where does this go next? (read my mind, or bad science fiction) :-)

"Video killed the radio star"

JR, kudos for the Buggles ref.
so true, where auto tune and lip sync are the norms, rather than exceptions. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

JR, look on the lighter side. Real musicianship is very much alive and competing vigorously with the superficial commercialized plastic approaches in current music.  Dick, I'll see you on Nina Simone and raise you Esperanza Spalding. Another truly talented musician singer songwriter with great intelligence and social consciousness.

I've been a fan of Esperanza since I saw a video of her being invited on stage by some older musicians when she was just a pup.
