Looking to get a new analog crossover for my rig.  Currently using DBX 234, but one of the channels is not putting out sound on the his output.  I thought about just getting the DBX 234 XS.  But would like to find out what else out there is better than dbx at say less than $500.00.

I agree with the Ashly as well. I've carried an XR4001, or other Ashly in the rack since I can remember. They have great sound, are built like a tank, and will never let you down. Your crossover will make a big difference in the sound of your system. Don't cheap out when you buy one.

I have designed several "analog" crossovers over the years and when I saw that question it struck me as an oxymoron. Since the best analog crossover is likely to be outpointed by a cheap digital crossover on features.

While it is possible for a digital crossover to be too cheap to work well, and some early ones were rough, the product is mature enough that you should be able to get a good functional digital crossover without breaking the bank.

The "best" analog crossover would use fixed filters dialed in for your exact speaker system. Variable analog crossovers often have trouble staying consistent over the full adjustment range.

The Berhinger digital crossover works fine and is cheap.

Other than that, I like the old TDM or BSS crossovers. Ashly's work well too.

With all the advantages of a digital crossover, why would anyone want an analog crossover? This one is $350 and can be stereo triamp, or stereo biamp with aux fed subs. It will allow you to optimize your system far more than a simple analog crossover.
