I knew it...sound guys who wish they did lights, now can!

press release went out today....some people are really excited about this, but I see little practical use outside of very, very small shows

Hoo-Boy!  How I wish this were in another forum.  I, as a consumer of live music, have always been disappointed when something miraculous is going on and the sound guy "gets it" by appropriately boosting the gain only to have the lampies completely leave the "magical happening" in the dark.

I will bow out, now.

the consoles intent is to eliminate small lighting consoles on one man gigs, NOT to do a light show off the surface while mixing a band....

mind you, that's how it'll get used anyways

That was my thought as well...
My church is in process of buying a new console and the Si compact looks nice apart from being marginal on inputs... the Si Performer could fit the bill nicely, assuming the price is comparable to the Compact.

All I can think is 'great, now I can lose sound AND lights mid-show when the console dies on me.  Again.'

Yeah, still not a Soundcraft fan.....

yeah it seems like an updated si compact.  does the si compact have a 4 band full parametric?  also, this does seem ridiculous, but then again the small rental market really could benefit from this to be honest.  i mean small shows you send out with like 8 led cans or something...

that said... yeah i'm happy with my Vi1.

Nice idea for smaller shows.

Now the artist can indeed have a little more "green" in the monitors.

Seriously, 4 masters for lights can be
- walk in
- show
- walk out
- emergency

Or for conferences:
- speech
- discussion
- video
- dinner

Well done.

I was more interested in this:

"D.O.G.S. (Direct Out Gain Stabiliser) – Prevents manual change of a mic gain control affecting direct out levels, perfect when 2 consoles share a stagebox or when recording the channel direct outputs."

I was wondering when this would happen, the lampies will not be pleased...

In all seriousness though, I wonder if it can do programing with moving lights?
