The following is a quote from a post by Bill Whitlock on the Syn-Aud-Con member forums:

Since CEDIA has declined to offer my classes for the past two years (their
focus has shifted to "money makers" like how to sell service contracts,
etc.), I've worked with the Central Indiana AES section to offer my class,
free of charge, the evening before the CEDIA show opens at the Indianapolis
convention center.

I'll be presenting "An Overview of Audio System Grounding and Interfacing"
on Tuesday 4 September, from 7 PM to 10 PM, in Grand Ballroom 7-10 of the
J.W. Marriott Hotel, 10 South West Street. AES members, CEDIA attendees, and
anyone interested in the subject are invited. The class in *not* an
"infomercial". Refreshments will be served, courtesy of Jensen. See
http://centralindianaaes.org/ for up-to-date details.

Cordially,
Bill Whitlock, president & chief engineer

I have been to a few of these at various AES conventions, and it is always worth attending. You will learn things you thought you knew, but didn't. Anyone going to CEDIA, or able to get to Indianapolis on that day should make the effort, you won't regret it.

+1000!!!!!!!!!!!

If you think you know about grounding-take Bills class and learn how little you actually know.

I took one of his classes well over a decade ago and went in thinking I knew pretty much everything about grounding.  WRONG!!!!!

I took away a lot of information-but one simple little piece has resulted in me not tracing down hum/buzz in over 1,000 installs.

I wish I had taken it years earlier.

And you can't beat the price.

It is a real shame that important classes like this are no longer being taught.

There is a thread on the Synaudcon listserve about the "dumbing down of audio knowledge".

This is SO true.  We have more and more people doing stupid things in this industry-either because they don't know (most likely) and/or don't care.  And it is amazing how many don't want to learn.

They don't know how to read basic parts of spec sheets-have no idea what the various specs actually mean.

They swallow hook line and sinker whatever is told to them.

WE REALLY NEED TO RAISE THE BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is a good place to start.

Being that this is a free for all and also free of charge, it would be awesome if it was recorded and offered online!  ;)

16,000kms is a little too far to travel.

I'd love to attend, but the 4th is the first day of a 32 show run for me.  Damn that work.
