Different driver for t18 boxes
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:50:44 PM »

I have a pair of t18 copies that were built really well and are identical copies.  I have used them for several years, for lighter stuff and theatre stuff, I have been spoiled lately with meyer 700hp and jbl srx728 boxes, and it makes me wish that my little t18 boxes could go a bit lower.  They really work well for several of the places that i have gigs because of their physical size, but i just wish they preformed a bit better.  Has anyone had great success with doing a driver swap in them and getting a better low end response out of them.

The box is what determines a speakers systems low end response so you need to change the box and not the necessarally the driver to go lower. But the DL18mt is displacement limited due of it's relatively short xmax so there aren't any gains to be realized with the bits you currently have, you need to upgrade to a modern reflex enclosure and driver to get more output and extension in a small footprint.
