HDMI over cat5 distro- is there a better way?
« on: July 04, 2012, 05:48:46 PM »

So I want to distribute HDMI to about 10 remote flat panels. The distance is too great for just an HDMI cable so I want to use HDMI over cat5 (which I have done before) however I am having a difficult time finding anything more than a 1 HDMI to 4 cat5 (Kramer VH-16H for end user over $1000). I would really like that type of interface, but a 1 to 12. or even 1 to 8.

The problem with the 1 to 4 is I would need to hit a distro to send it to at least two of them. That is more mess than I would like.

Ideas?

if "about 10" is really 9 you could use this:

http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-1X9-HDMI-Splitter-with-CAT5-Outputs-SENDER-ONLY.html

We've had GREAT luck with Atlona HDMI Baluns.

Thank you!

That is exactly what I was after. Not only do I get 9 out for less than Kramer is charging for 4, but it also has an HDMI out, so I can cascade very easy. I have not used Atlona before, but I think I may pick them up.
