Steely Dan gets mentioned frequently. I also like Jackson Browne's "Running on Empty" lot's of dynamics, great sounding drums,keys,guitars.

I like "Flight of the Cosmic Hippo" to verify that all passbands are working then some other tracks listen for room modes.
