What Do You Use For "Channel Strip Tape"?
« on: June 09, 2012, 06:58:50 PM »

I've always used Scotch white plastic tape as it leaves virtually no residue, is easy to write on & easy to see. However, it seems to be getting hard to find out here. What do you use?

We have a brand here in Aus called Nitto that I use. It comes off easy and is bright white so pen shows up well.

White 1inch "artist tape".  Available locally at craft supply stores.

No tape anymore.... type it in on the computer and it's picked up on the iPad.   I don't look at the actual mixer much ...

I don't like electrical tape or any kind of paper tape for console labels. My hands sweat when I work and the ink smears something fierce with those shiny surface tapes.

I use 1" white gaffer tape. It doesn't leave any residue unless you bake it for a month, and it smears much less. If I was going to do labels that had to survive for a long time I might use printed Avery labels on top of e-tape or gaff, with clear Scotch tape over them for protection.

I use 1" white gaff, too, but I've been seeing a lot of flourescent gaff on consoles these days if that's what floats your boat.

I normally use white nitto tape or white gaff however I did some work with a local church and they had like fridge magnets with different channel inputs labeled on each piece which you then just place on each channel. Made it a hell of a lot easier to read however it took you a bit to find what you were looking for.
