Which mixer would you use..?

If you had no other options but to use either a Yamaha MG32/14FX or a Mackie Onyx 24.4 for a live show, which would you choose and why.  Just curious.

I would absolutely choose the Mackie.  Compared to the Yamaha, I get:
- per-channel Phantom Power
- one more mid-band sweep on the channel EQ
- 100mm faders
- Group mutes
- Aux Send Mutes
- the ability to actually MUTE a channel without un-assigning it from a bus.
- a simple Mix Matrix
- better per-channel metering

The only things I don't like about it are:
- built-in buss compression (bypassable, at least)
- Aux Sends are pre-/post- switchable globally, not channel-by-channel

I'm curious what you mean by this?

Read my rider, it clearly states "mixer MUST be Yamaha 01V96V2 or higher".

Ah…methinks I had a brain fart.  I'm used to dealing with the lesser-channeled version that doesn't have the mute, er…"ON" buttons that this model does.

Okay, so other than that, everything else holds true.  Those boards just don't have the flexibility and overall functionality I need for most of the mixing I do…yet, I see them all over the place - and it's for one reason and one reason only: it fit in the budget.  Not, "We upped the mixing console funds" or "we really thought it would be good to buy something we could expand with later on", but more like, "I think we can just make it fit…plus, we get the free t-shirt and shipping".
