Rental shop in DC area?
« on: May 03, 2012, 01:37:15 PM »

I need to rent a couple of wireless mics and a pro or prosumer camcorder. Does anyone know of a rental shop in my area. I am in Alexandria, Virginia. Anywhere in Washington, DC, or its suburbs in northern Virginia would be fine: Fairfax county, Prince William county, etc.

Thanks, but they seem expensive. A Sony VX1000 + tripod is $200 for 1 day. The going rate seems to be less than half that. Unfortunately, the other places I tried do not have the mics.

I can't speak for pricing, but check Creative Video of Washington.  They're in Tyson's Corner.

i know all the sound companies in the area.  most do dry rentals, but i don't think they're gonna have your camera.  you could call

event strategies, inc.  they're in alexandria.
audio-visual headquarters.  they may still have an office in alexandria.
national events ?  maybe

should be able to google these and find them.  can't think of any other AV houses.  i mostly worked with higher end production companies.

nice to have a fellow alexandrite on the board though.  i got transplanted to frederick, MD 10 years ago, but i'm a 4th generation alexandrian born and reared in view of the one and only 'masonic temple'.  thank you very much...  :)

AVHQ (/TAVS/Caribiner/Blumberg/et al) got bought out/merged/combined with PSAV at least 5 years ago now, but it could be closer to 10.  I think the only local PSAV office (non-hotel based) is somewhere north of DC - Lanham or Greenbelt area.

Have you tried 4Wall Entertainment? They're a big A/V company with a location in DC.
