You might look into a drywall cart for moving them around. I think 3/16 thick would be plenty heavy enough.

I had the metal fab shop put some taper holes in 36"x36" steel plates. I bolted the global 30"x30" aluminum bases on top of these. They are HEAVY but I can load them myself. I have a cart they ride on standing up with steel casters. I'll get a photo when we set this up Thursday.

One thing I did with all of my 3 x 3 plates is clip and radius the corners. I don't want a careless helper throwing them down and gouging the carpet.

Global 30x30 bolted to a 36" x 3/16" plate. It goes up 13' and has 2 lecos near the top and a small mover on it. Pretty stable but not as sturdy as I would like. The other 2 on this setup are on 36"x3/8" aluminum bases. Those are less sturdy because the bases weigh less. I think after this experiment, I will try building 48" square aluminum bases for this..
