I picked up some used SRX subs that the finish on the grills need to be refinish. What is the best way to do this?

I've got a pile of SRX cabinets. When I've refinished them in the past, I sand away any rust/corrosion, and then lightly spray with black paint. The last time I did this, I found one that had a nice texture to the color. I can't describe it, but it made them look spiffy again.
