Poll

Does not including your location under your name make you a dumb ass? ARE YOU A DUMB ASS?

Yes, anyone who can't figure out their user profile and add their location is a dumb ass.
Yes, because only trolls don't want you to know where they are located.
Yes, because limited intelligence has been a life long problem.
No, because I sell crap in the Marketplace I never want to see again, or buy stuff I'll never pay for.
No, I have included my location because it helps when I ask questions, sell hardware or services, need help locally, and making fun of losing football teams

The "Hello you're a dumb ass" poll.
« on: November 04, 2011, 08:31:35 PM »

About 25% of the people who belong to PSW are now showing their location under their name. It's helpful in a number of good ways and a benfit to all. If you can be defined by questions #1 through #4, then don't edit your profile and don't put your location under your name. It's always nice to know when you're talking to a dumb ass.

If you've answered question #5 thank you for making the PSW site and our forums a nicer place to be.

Life is an IQ test and some are destined to fail..

OTOH investing too much effort into herding cats on the internet is not productive use of time, but we must spend our time doing something so why not tilt at our favorite windmills.

Bob,  I think you have it 50% wrong on this one.

I really don't care on any typical post where someone is located or where they live because for most of our conversations it really doesn't matter.  HOWEVER, I get really frustrated when going through the Marketplace and not seeing a location in the posts there.  The least they could do is tell us a zip code.  It is only five digits, doesn't take to long to type that!

Therefore, your pole is missing at least one option...."No, you're not a dumb ass if you don't post your location unless you want to sell something then you are beyond Dumbass!"

I think the dumb ass award goes to the crook who tried to hold up a hotel that was holding a martial arts tournament at the time...

That by definition is a tough crowd.

Did they go far enough for him to have earned a Darwin Award nomination?  ;D

He was easily subdued and held for the police...  I think there was some video of it on LA fox news station.

I, on the other hand, had the good sense as a child to nearly drown in the pool of a hotel that was hosting a convention of ER doctors and nurses.   ::)

OK, I'm officially a dumb ass. I added my location a few days ago in the "Location" field of my profile and I still don't see it in my posts.   :-[:'(

The place you want to enter your location is the "personal text" box.

Bad, bad Bob should have mentioned that...

I think it would be useful if more people put the location in.
Just yesterday I discovered a colleague in the next town only because he put his zip in the marketplace add. Finding the people near you is a good thing!

Well maybe I AM a dumbass for PRECISELY the reasons you mentioned. I did have my location listed in my profile, but it was not appearing in my forum posts. I didn't even notice that until I came back to look at this thread again, saw what someone had written about putting it in the "text" area or some such, checked my previous post, saw that my address was not appearing....yadda yadda yadda.
I have corrected this......but will happily accept your dumbass label for my error. Gotta man up and take the heat  ;D ;D ;D

I should talk. The Pats haven't been anything to write home about lately, and, as much as I hate to say it, the Jets could beat them this week. At least they were smart enough to get rid of Haynsworthless, and Choko Stinko should be next.
