mrx525 vs the qrx218

the mrx had more output(harmonic distrotion?) even at 30 hz sinwave

buy the qrx sub if u need the castors, pole mount and  smaller size

Hey Mark,

Do you mean the MRX528? The MRX dual-18".

Or was it the SRX728 that they did at Sam ash as well, like we are talking about above?

Take care,
Phil

a phil

yea it was the mrx528

like fowler bounced the nl4 back and fourth on it8000
noise
sinewave
808rap track

mrx528 had "good amount" more "sound output" then the qrx218/evx18b

some could  say the ev qrx218 has a cleaner lowend (less harmonics?)

the ev qrx218 cost close to 2x as much as the mrx528

I'm a QRx212 over SRX718s user...

I didn't like to tone of the JBL top end, and I didn't like the QRX low end.

MRX528 will need double the drivers to keep up with an QRx212.

I'm using: EV QRx212 over JBL SRX718s(2) with Crown IT's and MRX512m & MRX525 on monitors with XTi's; all controlled by Yamaha LS9-32.  I have a bunch of other stuff too.

OP and Doug Fowler were talking about 728

Mark Lonow mentioned 528's but that's not what the thread is about

Yep, I went with the JBL subs and am very happy. It's tough not being able to listen to the QRX line.

Regarding the tops- this is more of a toss up for me. I heard the JBLs and was pretty impressed. This was just an "ear" test though. I have a pair of the 712m and really like them alot, but for mains I'm definately willing to give the QRXs a try- again, not being able to hear them is tough, but they seem to have alot of positive feedback on them and the qrx over srx rig sounds pretty common.

I do like the idea of matching cabinets and there are others that run SRX gear in my area that I could probably rent to so I do need to take that into consideration I suppose. Also, it seems as though the negative comments I've heard on the JBL tops have been addressed in the newer SRX cabinets.

I do suppose I could rent the QRXs out too, but I'll admit its probably an easier sell to rent out a matching system since most of my clients would be DJs looking to rent.
