Forum PMs and archive question
« on: January 20, 2011, 09:36:00 AM »

I am assuming any contacts I might have in my PMs or any important messages that are in my PMs will not be available when the old forum gets archived?  (because I will not be able to log into the old forum)

Hence, I will have to save or copy and important messages that I have in my PM?

That would be correct.
After all, you do have backups of other important "stuff", don't you ??

If you are using your PM history as an address book I suggest moving that info to a real address book. There is no guarantee that any given user will register with the same user name in the new forums, or that they will register at all.

It is highly unlikely that the archive will include personal messages.

Yes i do have backups - I am an IT engineer by day; but time can fly by most days and things can get lost or forgotten especially when change happens.

I just wanted to make sure that I spend the time to go through my PM and see if there is anything important that will not be available later.  I also wanted to put it out here for anyone/everyone else to make sure there is nothing important in your PM.

Thanks.
