Best use of an 01V ever!
« on: December 15, 2010, 05:00:58 PM »

This might be old news here, but I just saw it and it's funny as hell.  Makes me want to go to work and do something constructive with my 01V.  Right now its holding the door to the shop open.

I am also a fan of using consoles as toys:

Neither of you guys are welcome anywhere near my consoles, at least without a nice supply of replacement faders.   Very Happy

Bennett, you really started to get the crowd going with that one!

I always like to play "roll the pen" during those 1 mic events on the M7CL.

Is the O1v useful for anything? A buddy wants to get 2 to replace a MixWiz/2200 setup.

I regularly use an original 01v for talking head gigs, coffee shop things, open mic nights, comedy shows.  The comedy gigs are the most involved: L/R, monitors, FF, LL/RR, green room/lobby/hearing assist.

We've had some LABsters cascade 2 originals together but I've never done it, so I can't comment on the limitations and "gotchas" involved.

Have fun, good luck.

If I only needed 4 auxes and L/R  I would take an 01v over most other small format analog any day of the week.

I cascaded 5 together once.... I wish I took a picture of that (-:

I regularly cascaded 2 together for almost 10 years until I got my studiolive 24.4.2

My regular small setup from 2001 to 2005 was 2 cascaded with the auxes from each console into a rack mount combiner (for ease of monitor mix wiring).

That setup was great.   I did many a small festival with that.

my current in-ear monitor rig for my church band is [essentially] 3 cascaded 01v96s with a 4th as a drum submixer and vocal mic processor.

gives me 15 stereo, remote controlled in-ear mixes for less than 7 grand.  hard to argue with that ROI...
