LAB Expo 2011

(1/8) > >>

Bennett Prescott:
Folks, there has been a lot of talk about having next year's LAB Expo & Get Together in the southwest, like Albuquerque. I would love to, but I am missing several things:

1) A venue. Preferably with a bar, that will let us stay late and have a party.
2) Production. Don't need much, a projector and basic FOH.
3) A band, preferably jazz or other classy but light fare, to play during said party.

I can make most of the rest of it happen. We're talking late February or early March to take advantage of the lull in most people's schedules.

Please, if you have at least one of those things and want to work with me to make this event happen, let me know and it will happen. Otherwise I'm going to have it in tried and true territory, as our friends at the Wachusett Village Inn would love to see us again.

Suggestions for talks or panel discussions, or offers to do one or the other, also very welcome.

I can provide #2.

Have connections with lots of jazz bands, but can't think of any that want to play for free in front of drunken sound doods...

Could provide a projected image of a jazz band and my classy Ipod selections .

Gentlemen:

I offer for your consideration Larry Novotny from New Prague, MN.  He "lips" the notes on the sousaphone better than most players using the valves.

A good time is guaranteed for all and I'll bring him with me if you'll all chip in for the air fare.

DR (forgotten but not gone.....)
