alternative to the barco RCVDS 05?
« on: November 14, 2010, 03:51:50 AM »

Local Non-Profit PAC has an old 8200 barco running still (Yea i know cue dinosaur jokes). Its still actually running pretty well, but the switcher is where we're having issues.

Is there a used offering similar to the RCVDS 05 unit that will let us to 2 computers (VGA), 2 dvd players (Component), and a black frame option?

Right now we're using it to turn the unit via RS-232 as its hung outside the projection booth...

In the process of getting a grand for a new projector but thats down the pip a little... Not that familiar with switching options though....

The Extron System 5 IP or System 7SC might work, however you'd probably have to create your own command set for the Barcovision 8200 since there may not be drivers for many older projector models.

If you're thinking about getting a new projector then you may want to consider how that could affect what you purchase for the switcher in areas such as compatibility with formats and scan rates, whether you buy a switcher or switcher scaler/seamless switcher, if the switcher controls the projector then whether it is compatible with the projector and so on.
