Audiopile DD-066B "shorty" tripod boom
« on: October 31, 2010, 02:54:46 pm »

I bought eight Audiopile DD-066B "shorty" tripod microphone booms on the recommendation of a forum poster.  For $25ea I think these are a great value.  The telescoping boom can reach about five feet in height and is great around the drum kit; yet its small footprint makes it fine for guitar cabinets on cramped stages, too.

It is not Atlas or K&M and shouldn't be confused for that.  I think the hardware will last me through a few hundred gigs.  It seems much better than other inexpensive mic stands I've tried, including Ultimate, Backline, On-Stage Stands, etc.

If you need extra shorties as backups for those surprise gigs when two drum kits show up, B-rig, whatever, I think these are great for $25.  Here is the product link:

I have 3 or 4 of these and love them.
The only thing I don't like about them is the euro thread, but some locktite on the adapter ad that's fixed.
I'm going to buy 3 more before long.  You can do a lot worse for the money.

Yes, the blue thread locker is needed on the euro adapter.

Had them for a few years doing 3-7 shows a week and the euro adapter is the only problem.
