Installing lights on top of my speakers
« on: October 13, 2010, 05:29:16 pm »

I'd like to somehow install led par cans (on a small rack) on top of my speakers instead of bringing extra stands etc to each gig. Installing them on top would give me a height of about 9 feet which is perfect for me.

Question is: How do I do it? Is it possible to use the flying points to help with this? See pic:

Pic from the side (it's got a handle on each side):

Just seeing if there was ever a solution...I realize this link is QUITE out of date Razz

Anyway I've seen two ways:

1. Some sort of strap that could go side to side (ie. not across the face of the speaker) but without front coverage it can possibly pop out.

2. A metal plate sitting on the speaker (felt or something on top that has a "rim" on the perimeter.

Having the Yorkville EF500P LS508 boxes it was easy theres 2 3/8" threaded inserts for fly points on top of them. Used to put a couple alum par 38 on there when space got tight,

Wouldn't put any amount of weight on there on a speaker stand but ground stacked and pegged on top of the subs it didn't seem to pose a problem.
