Shure UHF Radios and Ultrasonics
« on: October 07, 2010, 09:18:26 AM »

OK, I'm currently in a football stadium conference room. The whole building is blasting out 20.2KHz tone through the evac system and it's sending the radio mic companders crazy Mad

I'm trying to get the problem fixed at source but can anyone tell me if the UHF-R series is also susceptible to to ultrasonics? I may be able to get some UHF-R kit shipped in.

Thanks,

Ade

Can't answer your specific question about the UHF-R's audio bandpass/LPF, but you maybe able to 'filter' out the 20kHz with a less responsive capsule, something that's >20dB down at that frequency. Then keep the TX audio input gain at a minimum level and make up for it at the receiver output as long as you can keep the S/N acceptable.
