free (mac) projecton software
« on: October 04, 2010, 11:59:45 AM »

the startup church I go to is in need of a projection software, we've all used pro presenter in the past and love it, however it's a cost prohibitive option. we need something free for temporary use (or permantent if it's good enough).

I'd to like openlp and can see it getting features of pro presenter in the next 2-3 year... but this is an immediate need..

anyone know of a good free one for mac?

needs to do text over video.
play media (count down and other videos, don't need dvd playback as it's always buggy anyway)
song db
bible db
etc.

any recommendations?

Try this one: QLab
They have a free version of it for Mac.
I believe one of the free limitations is that you cannot save video playbacks for re-use.

You should ask over on the church forum:
http://churchsound.prosoundweb.com/

As far as I know, there is no free program that does this.

Where are you getting the computer and projector? You probably are spending more than $1000 for the hardware... you should include the cost of software in the setup.

Mediashout for mac is $300 or properesentor for $400

Jason,
Your gonna have to spend money on this one. Keynote will do some of what you want. I think you can do motion backgrounds now. However, No database so Bible Gateway cut and paste and beyond that get someone who is a good typer! We went a long time without motion backgrounds and I dont think it ever really effected the way or how well we "worshipped" In some ways I think now it detracts from it. Sometimes it costs money to be cool!!!!!!
Good luck,
T

Keynote will do most of this, but you will have to build it.

Checkout OpenLP.org. It is open source and includes features like MediaShout and EasyWorship. Available on Windows / Mac / Linux.
