All weather outdoor two way speaker
« on: September 20, 2010, 04:43:06 PM »

I'm looking for an all weather outdoor two way speaker.  I had spec'd Community Wet Series W2-215s with Polar Focus Mounts, but now have been asked sharpen the pencil... a lot.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

How pointy does this pencil need to be?

TOA's HX-5B-WP outdoor line array comes in at $500/box...don't know what kind of coverage you need.

I have a couple sets of JBL Control 30's in an outdoor install in Colorado.  We did replace the grilles last year, but they have held up for 3 years in the rain, sun and snow.

Are the only requirements that they are "all weather" and two-way?  Are the speakers located directly exposed to weather or in somewhat protected locations?  Are there any criteria as far as frequency response, output, pattern or mounting provisions?   Are you trying to hit any specific price point?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Brad- all good questions that, despite repeated RFI submissions redundantly asking the same questions and more, have not been able to get a qualified answer to.  My inclination was towards the Community's that I mentioned above, but thinking that at thier price I may just price myself out of the bid.  It's a large cluttered area, that I don't think is going to be adequately covered, but for now I'm bidding thier spec, as woefully incomplete as it may be. How large a project is this?

I have 8 Community Wet 228 (the original model) available for under $200 per enclosure if it helps at all.  I also have US shipping.

PM me for more info.

Thanks for the offer Marlow.  I ended up spec'ing JBL Control 30 into the bid (thanks for the idea ken) and I found out I won a couple of days ago.
