Backlighting a dome
« on: August 19, 2010, 12:05:17 PM »

Looking for ideas on backlighting a stained glass dome. They want to make it "pop" at night. I don't think LEDs would do the stained glass justice since the white isn't natural. It's in a restaurant. Thanks in advance.

Why does it have to be white?

It doesn't have to be white. Just thought of using the colors within the stained glass to emphasis it instead of a rainbow of LEDs.

LED should be fine, and will give you color control.  I'd use an RGBAW, etc., so you can get a better white.  Will they be outdoors?  Budget?  Dimensions?

if you had all the fixtures the same color it'd look pretty damn cool, plus you could do a light show of sorts with it

slow color mixes, odd/even complimentary colors etc

anyways, is this a permanent install or something that will be taken down and put up on an 'as needed' basis
