nave speakers?
« on: August 13, 2010, 09:47:37 PM »

I have to rework an install for a client.  The original installer is long gone.  However I have the original as builts.  The DSP died and I am replacing it.  However I have to rebuild the processing for the main cluster from scratch.  I can not find any info on the listed speakers.  Any one got some info on these?

Nave HP4090, HP4060 or HP9020 (conflicting documentation) TL 15-1 (LF box)

What I am most interested in is what high pass they need and power handling.  I will do the EQ based on measurement and by ear.

Looks like those may be EV part numbers.  Perhaps "Nave" refers to location?

Thank you very much. Those are the speakers and the location makes sense.  I have never heard of that location described that way.

"In Romanesque and Gothic Christian abbey, cathedral basilica and church architecture, the nave is the central approach to the high altar, the main body of the church. "Nave" (Medieval Latin navis, "ship") was probably suggested by the keel shape of its vaulting.[1]  The nave of a church, whether Romanesque, Gothic or Classical, extends from the entry - which may have a separate vestibule, the narthex — to the chancel and is flanked by lower aisles[2] separated from the nave by an arcade. If the aisles are high and of a width comparable to the central nave, the structure is sometimes said to have three naves."

I know, I should have recognized it.  What I run into is every denomination (and we have lots of them around here) has there own term for every thing.  What really sucks is how intolerant so many of them are.  Use the wrong term and you lose the job.

Though this won't make you perfectly coversant in/for every denomination and faith, this paper is a good one to read and then keep on file:

At the risk of moving slightly off-topic, here's something the Catholic church put together for the Pope's recent visit to the UK:
