Okay guys, time to build myself some new pinspot bars. How is everybody building theirs? I have decided that they will be built 4 and 6 to a bar, but that's about it. What are you using for the actual bar, how are you managing the cable to keep it clean, what are your rigging methods?

Going to be building a mix of all white and all black bars. Other details to consider: I need to be able to mount to 10' black pipe and base as well as airwall hangers.

im building some soon. Going to use aluminum pipe, drill and tap for cable glands and wire it internally (like a 6-cir lamp bar). Im sick of seeing ugly unistrut pinspot bars.

Definitely keep me updated on that project. I've been trying to figure out an easy way to wire it internally but continue to run into issues trying to make it serviceable. Do you plan on using 1.5" sched. 40 aluminum pipe? or something with a thinner wall? Are you planning to drill and tap for the mounting bolt in the pinspot or thru-bolt it as on a standard lamp bar?

pinspots bolted through, just like a lamp bar (im actually doing this with par38 cans, but assembly wise it would be the same) its going to be a time consuming PITA to assemble these but the result will be well worth it. I wont be starting making them for a couple weeks, ill try to remember to update you.

What is a "pinspot bar"??? Do you mean ACL's? Sounds kinda DJish to me...

Thanks Todd, looking forward to being kept in the loop. I'll be updating my progress as well once I perfect an internal wiring scheme.

Micky: I do not mean ACL's. I use pinspot bars to light table centerpieces and other event decor from pipe and base or other means of rigging. The extremely tight beam makes for an excellent "pop" of light to highlight whatever it is hitting while keeping light out of guest's eyes.

nice job on those two rooms. The wedding lighting market here is terrible due to a ton of people who dont know what theyre doing buying 1200 worth of adj LED fixtures and orange extension cords lighting rooms for $200.

I wired my pinspot bars and used a small junction box to make it serviceable. I've seen others just zip-tie a power strip to the bar

I just use unistrut cut to about 24".  I can get 4 pinspots on one bar, which is just wide enough to allow focusing.  As for rigging, I use an airwall hanger when possible.  If I have to use a stand, I'll use either a drapery pole, or a 2" pipe and base.

put 4-6 on a 2' long 3/4" pipe wired in parallel (if 120v, otherwise in series) to a Uground or L5-20 connection with a couple of C-Clamps for rigging...and a safety
