I played a job last night and the promotor provided these for the Pa. We are a cover band that does not use amps , just in ear monitors live drums and do everything from old country to sTeely Dan. One  "tower" and two subs on each side.

Venus was about 150 feet deep and 80 feet wide and they system was very imprissive. It really did a great job and surprised the hell out of me, lot of head room and with the subs they had, bose but larger, we had to cut the sub amp back a bit.

I know it would not handle a metal band but it did handle this situation very well!!!

I'm glad to hear it worked for you.  I know I go into situations like that with some apprehension (much of it based off of the opinions I care about on the forum), but it is still good to give the gear a chance before tossing it to the curb.

After what I had taken time to read on here I was very nervous about it!!!

 Now if someone thinks they are going to use these outside with a metal band,or any band the plays really loud for that matter, inside or outside I think it might be disappointing.

As the guy that claimed the VRAY 112's sucked and just blew ribbon assemblies but was running a Crest PRO 9200 at them full bore

SO when used as designed, I guess I would say they do fine.

Where were the "towers" and subs set up, relative to the band ...... in front or behind ?

Bose has many different speakers in the “Panaray” line, most of which are appropriate for restaurant background music systems or light vocal PA work.

The Panaray LT 9400 is a two way 200-16 kHz 121 dB-SPL horn loaded box.

I am inclined to believe that the gig went well because of the ability of the band, not the sound reinforcement equipment.

Even using the best of sound systems, a terrible band is still a terrible band. Talent will usually shine through a marginal sound system.

Hi Joe, I'm assuming you're talking about those column "line array" things. I'm glad they worked out well for you, but every time I hear them, I think of a bell curve centered at 1k. In fact, last time I heard them, someone was playing music off an iPod. I had to leave the area it was too painful.

Your correct Silas,  I did do a little eq on them but frankly it was to get rid of some bass, the subs where an issue, but a little fine tuning on the 01v96 and off we went,

I think the lack of stage volume and the way we go about gigs did help as we are selling the low volume thing to clients. With that being said, we do have 5 people singing and sometimes all at one time. IT is rare that we have less than two and a lot of  3 part harmonies. IT really did well with all the keys and vocals.

The people in the audience made time to come tell us how great it sounded and the people that put on the events could not have been happier.

Would the work for a really loud rock band, I don't know, but they sure got a lot louder than I ever thought they could and we had miles of headroom.
