Graduation Time...
« on: June 04, 2010, 03:27:01 PM »

  Hello,

What is an appropriate gift of money for a High School Graduate?
For a College Graduate?

(Not your own Child, but Friend's Kids, & Nephews & Nieces)

I have been told I have a tendency to go overboard....but, no matter what, I never think it's enough.

Thanks,
Hammer

ps. they already own cars.

You're one of the good guys. :)

I try to come up with something personally, then ask my wife and we meet in the middle - or if one of us is really bent on the higher figure, we go there.

Well, they never did sell us the Company. Seems as though someone had spilled all of our data/plans to the Company's owners, and they've been (for the most part) following our business plan.  Mad

 I wonder who...? Confused

I wish them luck, I'd like to hope the Company will live another 100 years.

 Cheers,
 Hammer

ps...Dick some more jars are on their way to you. Smile

You know, cash is always appreciated, but I realized last Monday that the best thing I got was a laundry basket from the neighbors across the street.  Of course all the supplies are gone by now, but that basket is bombproof.  15 years later it's still nearly like new.  So sometimes the best things aren't the most expensive, but the well made things that make life easier.  Sounds a lot like buying for work 'eh?

Why?  ....I didn't say the Kid was a loser! geeze... Laughing

Sorry... I had to do that...   and, No...this year it seems they're all young ladies on my list... I don't think they'd appreciate the Hockey gear.

Ok... so with all of the suggestions so far Rolling Eyes ...I think I'll go with Money gifts in the amount of a College class or 1 speeding ticket. Laughing

 Cheers,
 Hammer

Humm... I had a sneaking suspicion it was graduation season, because I’ve noticed I’ve started getting the "back to school" sales fliers in the mail.

Well... as far as graduation gift suggestions go, I suggest that cash is the universal gift... except they know exactly how much you spent on their carefully chosen gift... but I think they usually forget who gave them what before the Monday morning after graduation, so... I dunno... it's the thought that counts.

Maybe a good pair of work gloves, a lunch pail, and a pocket knife?

CASH. I mean, if you want to add in a little touch, you could give them a giftcard to higher end stores like Nordstrom, which I guess is a personal favourite, or even more upscale, Neiman Marcus, but giving her a $25 giftcard to that department store will buy her as much as lint. Designer lint... Rolling Eyes

 Hello,

So.... Grad parties had started today, and time had run out. I settled on $500 per High School Student and $1K for the College Grads. Not too high and not too low. Confused

No gift cards or other gift items were given....except the balloon decorated, full sized- highway sign, (3'x10') pointing to Ann Arbor (home to U of M), where one friend's Daughter will attend in the fall.

I would have liked to have seen their faces when they woke up this morning to find this sign in their yard. Very Happy

   Cheers and thanks,
  Hammer
