Controlling a Leprecon 612 Console
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:35:17 PM »

I'm pretty sure the simply answer is no. I have a client that is automating a small presentation theater with Crestron or AMX and they want to recall a few presets on the Leprecon.

Any Ideas?

Leps have no automated recall as far as I know, you can, however, set up a few scene presets and swap them manually.

I will admit that I have never used any of these items below, but I can think of two options.  The simple solution may be Crestron's gla-DMX512.  It has DMX in and out plus the unit records scenes and can be set for automated time lines. So I imagine this works where you can turn off the Crestron preset and the console would have full control, kind of how some house lighting controllers work, thinking like an ETC console working with Unison system and wall plates. They do a highest takes priority.

The other solution would involve something like Doug Fleenor's RS232 to DMX.  http://www.dfd.com/232.html  If you got that, plus a DMX combinerhttp://www.dfd.com/pdf/221edata.pdf That would be one possible solution.  This forum has high regard for Doug Fleenor's products, though I have not personally used them.  I'm sure that other options are out there as well.

Hope that gets you started.
