Okay, I wasn't going to comment on specific mics, but +1 on this. We purchased one of these when our A-T earworn went missing, and I was well-pleased with the quality. The folks at MM are also tremendously helpful. When I mentioned that I have a crappy backup lav with a different connector, they offered to retrofit my mic with a second connector to match it, as well.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm leaning towards the Crown mic but will keep the other options in the background if they complain about the price. I think they will like the CM311 though and it should fit into their budget. Now I just need to replace that 700Mhz stuff.

id say the countryman E6 would be great , i have used it many times for singing acts that dance etc , even though its a single earpiece mic it is very stable , if you need extra stability which you may want if the artists are jumping about just adda little bit of tape behind the ear , this will keep them in place

they are also virtually invisible from an audience perspective !!1

and they sound incredible one of the best mic's in its class

I did a search but haven't really gotten the answer I was looking for. I've got a band that is looking to go with headworn mics for the vocalists for part of the show to facilitate some dancing and stuff (think Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson kinda stuff).

I need something that will stay put with some heavy dancing, size really isn't an issue, but good quality is. I don't have a budget from them yet but like I said, better quality is what we are after here. I've heard DPA is a good choise but haven't had any experience with headworn mics so just asking for a few suggestions from personal experience. Shouldn't matter but it will be used with Sennheiser beltpacks.

Thanks,
David Junius

If you were to consider the DPA mics make sure to custom order them with the Lemo connectors. You do not want to mess with microdot adapters for people who will be dancing.

Best unit you can find for the money:

+1

If you have budget constraints, these are fantastic units for the price.

You should go with the Crown for this application. I work with a singer who uses one. It sounds good and is pretty durable.

The DPA 4066 being an omni, is prone to feedback. The 4088 sounds good. Both work well for churchs, but are delicate and can get easily broken. They are about $600. Much more than the Crown.

The DPA's are fixed position, while the Crown can be moved away from the mouth in case of a cough or sneeze.

For everyone's information. I ordered the Crowns and in the process of trying to figure out how to wire it up, got an answer from Sennheiser that this mic won't work with the Evolution series beltpacks. So I guess it's back to searching for a mic that will work with the 500 series G3 beltpacks among the other requirments I had. I guess I will look back over this thread and see what I can get.

Take a look at this old thread

and this

Maybe it will help get you going.

This one helps you wire the Crown to just about everything except the one you want.
