I am looking to replace my FOH cd player, and after being disappointed with a couple of decks that I thought were going to be great I am wondering what you guys have found as a good reliable deck for FOH duties. I am just wanting something that plays discs reliable and doesnt go into "sleep" mode causing you to miss cues due to it having to spin back up. Thanks in advance for your responses.

My absolute favorite is the discontinued Denon DN-D4000.
The replacement DN-D4500 is just as good.

I'm very, very picky when it comes to decks.
(years of amateur talent shows will do that to you.)

I will bring my own CD player to gigs just so I don't have to deal with random junk or recording decks that aren't made for playback.

As for what I personally carry, it's a Numark CDN-32S.
It has the basic features that I require and I won't be out $500 if it disappears at a gig.

We (theater) have a Numark CDN25.

It was cheap, and I love the big colored Play and Stop buttons.

It is VERY picky about disc quality. Even some factory discs (low production sing-along stuff) are troublesome.

I have had very good luck with Gemini Dj decks.
I have 2 that still work great and are over 10 years old, the single decks seem to be more reliable than the dual decks.

All of my decks on site are Tascam currently.

We are using CD01U-Pro's and love them.

I love single space CD players. When our players have a problem, we just swap them out with a CD01U.

The new Yamaha units are sweet. Have a USB right in the front panel. We also have the Tascam CDi-200, which has a tray for the iPod.

It gets better. The Yamaha outputs the USB device's digital and appears to charge the battery as well. It can also play files right off a USB stick.
